A very annoying video is roaming on Facebook in which a certain Emenike Michael Nwafor a Nigerian from Nnewi, Anambra state who is seeking asylum in Bordeaux France shreds his Nigerian passport because he doesn’t want to be identified as a Nigerian but a BIAFRAN!
Before ripping the book to pieces on camera, the now stateless fool rants about not wanting to be associated with Nigeria and talks about plans of a so-called Biafran family based in France to restore Biafra as a country. But THE AFRICAN EYE ASKS: How does any sane person claim to be a national of an imaginary nation? You can’t be a citizen of a country that doesn’t exist, can you?
Well, late reggae star Peter Tosh did sing that: “You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can’t fool all the people all the time” so we can’t be fooled by Mr Nwafor’s pathetic drama. We understand his desperation to be granted political asylum in France and we hope that his stunt pays off otherwise its good riddance because he has renounced his bonafide citizenship. Destroying the nation’s passport like burning the national flag is tantamount to treason therefore he’s doomed to live the rest of his life in limbo as a stateless person unless the French who as we know did back late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s futile attempt to create a Biafran nation are fooled by this illiterate drama queen.
See the statement Mr Nwafor posted with his video below this photo. (The statement is reproduced as written and unedited).
i regret noting, still i stand by my words that i refuse and will not accept the nigerian name as my nationality, this country is a zoo and even in the animal kingdom they have respect for even other = but the case of nigeria is different and the politicans refuse to make any ajustment rather the dive more deeper in crime.
