A woman identified as Terry Mutoni has been dragged to custody after she allegedly attempted to poison and kill her only child, a six-year-old boy by lacing his food with poison so that she could get married to her new lover.
However, this single Kenyan 22-year-old mother from the village of Kagongo, Kirinyaga County could not raise the KSh 300,000 bond that the court had demanded for her to be released after she denied the charges.
This awarded her a free permission to continue cooling her heels in prison until March 21, when her case will commence after several attempts of begging the Kerugoya Chief Magistrate to reduce the bond falling on deaf ears due to the gravity of the charges.
She will now remain in custody as she awaits an analytical report done by the Government Chemist on the poisoned food to ascertain the lethal substance used.
Eleven witnesses, including the victim, are lined up to appear for the prosecution to prove its case against Muthoni.
Keep posted for more updates about the case..
